Andrea, I have done basically the same patch (see my post to the list
yesterday),  I commented the line that set the PG_swap_entry bit.  (My
patch has the same net effect).  And now my systems don't crash, I
don't trigger more BUGS.

Yes, I use NFS, but all the test has been done in ext2 local
file systems.  I had at that time mounted NFS partitions, but I was not
using them, make that any difference?
