You mean all except the file transfer, or ALL transfers.
In my experience (also using PPP, etc) things have only
gotten better, but that it might be due to a difference
in the software our remote ends use.
The computers I connect to probably are Digital Unix
(like everything else on the physics department) or
some special terminal server. What do you connect to?

Maybe i use to be with kernel 2.0.33 with ppp 2.3.3.
i din't changed any setups but i upgrade the kernel now every thing that
passes by the modem is lot slower then before..
i working on it right now!
