Fault occured at slab_destroy in KVM guest kernel.

Please switch on all SLAB debug options and rerun.

They're already on!

New knowledge: turning off just DEBUG_PAGEALLOC makes oops dissapear,
other debugging options don't matter.

It's quite possible there's a bad interaction with DEBUG_PAGEALLOC and
the slab redzone logic. The first makes allocations full pages so that
we can later unmap them and detect spurious writes to them while the
second puts a redzone in front of the page (ie potentially in lala
land).

Here is typical scenario:
cache -- filp or dentry, ->buffer_size = 4096, objp = c643d000, dbg_redzone1 = c643df78.

Unable to handle ... at c643df7c. which is not next page.

Using -no-kvm switch makes this oops go away, there are strange but rare
other things like half of initscripts processes decides to segfault.
Dunno what is this.

Same picture for different guest kernels: 2.6.26, 2.6.27, 2.6.28-rc1
and different host kernels: 2.6.26-1-686 from to be Debian Lenny, 2.6.27.3
and 2.6.28-rc1.

Huh. That sounds more like an actual use-after-free. Possible that the
object is getting freed twice?

There's a call to kernel_map_pages(..., 0) on line 2905 of slab.c.
Commenting it out will nullify the debugging effect of DEBUG_PAGEALLOC
without changing the layout decisions and other behavior. If that kernel
works, that probably means your oops is a genuine use-after-free.

Commenting this code helps very much, looking further...

Does this go away with !CONFIG_KVM_GUEST on the guest kernel?

This only makes sense if you're using the kvm modules from kvm-77. If
so, you can also try http://userweb.kernel.org/~avi/kvm-78rc1.tar.gz
which fixes a bug with CONFIG_KVM_GUEST.

KVM_GUEST=n definitely helps.

This is kvm-72+dfsg-2 from soon-to-be-lenny.

e74bb3fa ("KVM: MMU: sync root on paravirt TLB flush") in kvm.git; it's
not yet in mainline.

(apply to host, not guest)
