I hadn't touched the machine for 2 days, other than SSH'ing in from work. I came home this evening and hit the delete key. I believe that this was already on the screen, since nothing happened when I hit the key other than the monitor came out of power-saver mode. The machine would send the monitor into power-save mode, and everything appeared to be running. But when I was at work today, I couldn't access the machine through CVS, HTTP, SSH, or SCP. I could, however, ping it. I was able to switch vitrual terminals, but I couldn't type any characters in. I tried hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL, but that did nothing at all. After I wrote the error screen down (it took up an entire sheet of notebook paper), I hit the reset button. Anyway, this is the message that was on the screen... --------------------------------------------------------------------- unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 39b45388 printing eip: c013781a *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0000 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010: [] EFLAGS: 00010203 eax: 39b45360 ebx: 00000000 ecx: 00000000 edx: 00000000 esi: 39b45360 edi: c1df6180 ebp: 00000001 esp: c1133f78 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process kswapd (pid: 4, stackpage = c1133000) Stack: c1075ad0 c1075aec 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000008 00000000 c012d878 c1075ad0 00000000 00010f00 00000004 00000000 00000000 00000004 00000000 00000000 0000003c 00000000 c012e0a0 00000004 00000000 00010f00 c0234577 c1132331 Call Trace: [] [] [] [] Code: 8b 76 28 8b 50 18 8b 40 10 83 e2 46 09 d0 0f 85 15 01 00 00 ---------------------------------------------------------------------
