Thanks for all of the discussions on the kernel summit discuss list.
Thanks also for the three (3) nomination e-mails (and one person who
said they definitely weren't attending, so we could remove him from
consideration) which people have sent in.
The program committee will be starting its deliberations shortly, with
the first round of invites going out somtime towards the end of May.
If you could take a look at this list and let us know who we should
include, please send nominations to:
kernel-summit@lists.linuxfoundation.org
We committee will attempt to add people that we notice are missing, or
were mentioned as being necessarily for topics that seem to have
gotten traction on the discuss list, but if you want to make sure
someone that you think really should be considered isn't overlooked,
we would greatly appreciate it if you could send us suggestions to us
in the next few days.
Also, if you have time to double check the e-mail addresses that we
have, the Google Spreadsheet is here:
http://goo.gl/FsVUFX
Many thanks!!
- Ted

Were nominations required to be entirely separate email threads?
There were a few suggestions for attendees made in the topic threads
that don't seem to be reflected in the nominations list.

They were not required to be, but it's most likely they may have just
been missed.
I believe Ted is asking everyone to help us find those that were
missed. Please, send us an email for those that were nominated in the
threads and are not on the list.
Thanks,

It's possible I missed some, which is why separate nomination threads
is easier.
I deliberately didn't include lists of names of "people that would be
useful if we're going to have discussion X", since we that presupposes
that we are definitely going to have a particular discussion. If you
see someone who you think should attend regardless of whether we
decide to include topic X, please send a separate nomination.
(Also note that we can't necessarily include everyone listed on a
"useful for topic X" list even if we are going to include that topic
on the agenda. We'll try to use some good judgement, but some kind of
priority listing or annotation of why someone was included, i.e., "we
need at least one of Foo and Bar from the glibc community, and either
Quux or Baz from the systemd community, etc.)
Thanks!!

I don't know why not. Even if we do not decide to talk about discussion
X, it does not hurt to add people that are useful to the discussion in
the nomination list. Just because they were mentioned, means they
probably have some importance to the kernel and should be considered.
That doesn't mean that we are going to invite them, any more than we
would invite others on the list.

For now just acquiring a list for us to start the process is important.
The first round usually just includes major developers that are not
being invited for any specific topic. For the choosing of those for
topics (around when we figure out what topics we want to include),
having a list of "most influential to the topic" would definitely be
helpful.

That was kind of my thinking as well. Put another way, not having
their name on any list guarantees they won't get an invite. I'd
rather at least allow for the possibility...
If it would be helpful, I can go back through the threads today and
draft a topic specific nomination list of those not already on the
list otherwise.

It was easier to just do it before I forgot about it, so I'll send a
new thread shortly.

PJ left Intel and now works for SolidFire, so his @intel.com address
won't work anymore. I don't know his preferred new address. (Hopefully
he plans to switch to something company-independent now.)

For Debian and StGit work he switched to pjwaskiewicz@gmail.com.

please remove me right away from all algorithmical or other selection
procedures. I'm not going to be in Chicago for KS no matter whether I
get an invite or not.
Simply because it conflicts with my annual summer vacation fun. That
means helping my wife to run the kitchen of our church community kids
summer camp.
No technical problem on earth can be more interesting than that!
Thanks

I won't be able to attend this year because I will on vacation at that
time. As much as I would like to attend the plans for were set a long
time ago and rescheduling would be a problem for other people travelling
with me.
